James Kay
Owner · Kay Ranch Construction
James Kay founded Kay Ranch Construction in 2021. The experience behind the company goes back more than thirty years, spent on projects across the country and built largely in commercial and multifamily construction.
That background shapes how Kay Ranch approaches every project. Commercial construction demands discipline. Compaction, drainage, structural integrity, material selection and proper installation all matter, and shortcuts eventually show. Kay Ranch brings that same standard to every retaining wall and stone project, whether it is a residential property in Parker County or a large commercial development.
Owner run, on purpose. One person answers for the estimate, the schedule and the finished wall.
Thirty plus years of construction experience. Commercially insured, commercial and residential.
Why it matters
Commercial habits, residential jobs
Compaction
Fill goes in a few inches at a time and gets compacted at every lift, because dumped fill settles for years and commercial work is checked before it is covered.
Drainage
Water is treated as the main structural load, not an afterthought. Saturated soil pushes many times harder than dry soil.
Sequence
Dirt work, base, drainage, structure, finish. In that order, every time, because the visible part only lasts if the buried part is right.
How we work
Four steps, one contract
- 01
Walk the site
Slope, water, access, and what sits above and below the grade change. The estimate starts with the ground, not a brochure.
- 02
Plan from the dirt up
One plan covers excavation, drainage, structure and stone, so nothing gets designed around someone else's guess.
- 03
Build it
The crew that cuts the grade sets the base, runs the drainage and lays the stone. Nothing gets handed off between contractors.
- 04
Answer for it
One phone number, and it is the owner's. Questions after the job go to the person who built it.
Commercially insured
The paperwork is boring. That is the point.
Commercially insured, for commercial and residential work. Recent builds and work in progress show up on Facebook. Everything else starts with a phone call.

Next step
Talk to the person who will build it.
Call or text, or leave a number and a sentence about the site. Either way you get James Kay, not a call center.
